HOME THERAPY AREAS Innovation in Influenza Vaccination in Switzerland: The Role of Cell-Based Vaccines 13 March 2024 Vaccines Vaccines Explore the role of cell-based vaccinesCell-based vaccines are a type of vaccine that are grown in mammalian cells instead of chicken eggs. Cell-based flu vaccine production does not use flu viruses grown in eggs and, therefore, is not dependent on the supply of eggs. In addition, use of cell-based vaccine viruses may offer better protection compared to traditional, egg-based flu vaccines, by avoiding the so called egg-adaptive mutations. These innovative aspects are presented in the presentation of Professor Ulrich Heininger during a FOMF (Forum Medizin Fortbildung) Webinar held on 13 March 2024.
